Dan Stallard is a native of Danville, KY where he graduated from Danville High School in 1979 then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1980. While in the Corps he attained the rank of Sergeant before being honorably discharged in 1988. During his service in the Marines Sergeant Stallard received a vocational call to Christian ministry and was licensed to the ministry in 1986 by West End Baptist Church, Galveston, TX where he served as an associate pastor and youth minister. After leaving active duty Reverend Stallard attended Clear Creek Baptist Bible College in Pineville, KY from 1988 to 1991 where he earned a BA in ministry. From 1991 to 1994 he attended The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY where he was conferred a MDIV in Pastoral Care and Counseling with a unit of Clinical Pastoral Education.
While in seminary he was commissioned an Ensign in the Navy’s Chaplain Candidate Program for Officers in 1992 and later that year ordained by Calvary Baptist Church, Danville, KY where he was a youth minister from 1988-1992. After graduating from seminary and pastoring Pleasant Memorial Baptist Church in Owensboro, KY from 1993-1995 Ensign Stallard superseded back to active duty in 1995 as a Lieutenant Junior Grade. Dan was endorsed for the Navy Chaplaincy by the Southern Baptist Convention Home Mission Board in 1992. During his service in the Navy he was endorsed by Cooperative Baptist Fellowship and North American Mission Board.
Throughout his Navy career Dan served as a staff chaplain for Commander Fleet Activities Yokosuka, Japan; Command Chaplain of USS VICKSBURG (CG 69), Mayport, FL and USS NASSAU (LHA 4), Norfolk, VA; instructor at the Naval Chaplains School, Newport, RI; Deputy Executive Assistant for the Navy Chief of Chaplains, Washington, DC; Joint Operations Center Chaplain for Multi-National Corps, Baghdad Iraq 06-07; Deputy Command Chaplain at the National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, MD; Doctrine Integrator and Capabilities Analyst for the Deputy Commandant of the Marine Corps for Combat Development and Integration, Quantico, VA; and the Director of CREDO Southeast. Captain Stallard’s final military tour was the Region Chaplain for Commander, Navy Region Southeast, Jacksonville, FL. Chaplain Stallard retired from active-duty 1 May 2020.
In addition, in 2004 Dan earned a MA in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College (NWC), College of Naval Command and Staff through the Distant Education Seminar Program, Newport, RI; also, he is a 2011 resident graduate of the NWC’s College of Naval Warfare with a post-graduate diploma in National Security with an emphasis on leadership and ethics. On 25 May 2014, he earned a PhD in Health Psychology from Walden University, Minneapolis, MN. The title of his dissertation was "A Resilient Warrior: Coping Positively with Combat Stress Exposure.”
In May 2020 Dan established a small business “EIDOS: Dan Stallard Solutions, LLC” to provide contract support to government and community entities in the areas of his expertise. On 1 Feb 2021, Dan was hired as a civil servant by Chief of Naval Operations N17 Navy Culture and Force Resilience office to be the Resiliency Program Manager working in the Integrated Primary Prevention section where he was credentialed by the DoD as a Level 5 Prevention Program Manager. Dan completed his government service 31 Dec 2023 and resides in Jacksonville; FL where he is active in church at Chets Creek at Palm Valley. He is on the board of directors for the Towers of Jacksonville a non-profit residence for low and fixed-income seniors. He is a member of the International Association of Positive Psychology Division of Positive Health and Well-being and the American Association of Suicidology. He is an avid reader, researcher and writer. He loves gardening and bonsai trees. Dan is married to the former Donna Coffman of Danville, KY. They were married in August 1981 and have three married children and six grandchildren.
